Fully Vaccinated OFWs Can Enter Hong Kong Starting Aug. 30

You will need a validated COVID vaccine certificate.

Thousands of fully-vaccinated OFWs can enter Hong Kong starting Aug. 30, the labor department said on Sunday after authorities in the Chinese territory initially denied entry to those presenting vaccination cards from the Philippines.

The Hong Kong government has agreed to allow Overseas Filipino Workers who received their vaccines to work there as long as they present a validated COVID-19 vaccine certificate issued by the Bureau of Quarantine, Labor Sec. Silvestre Bello III said in a statement.

Bello said some 3,000 OFWs will benefit from this development.

Fully inoculated OFWs will have to undergo quarantine in hotels upon arrival, to be shouldered by their employers.

Foreign Affairs Sec. Teodoro Locsin earlier said vaccination cards from the Philippines were not accepted by Hong Kong because they do not come from a single source.
