Public transportation will remain available in Metro Manila and nearby provinces placed under a GCQ bubble until April 4.
From March 22 to April 4, Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal are under GCQ but with more restrictions to curb a surge in COVID-19 infections.
Here are the new policies covering public transport in the GCQ bubble according to the Department of Transportation:
1. Travel to and from Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna and Rizal is limited only for authorized persons outside their residences (APORs). These are:
- Essential workers (ID needed)
- Health and emergency frontline services personnel
- Government officials and other government frontline personnel
- Authorized persons providing humanitarian assistance
- Those who need to travel for medical and humanitarian reasons
- Those who need to go to the airport for essential travel abroad
- Those who need to travel due to work, business or to go home
- Returning Overseas Filipinos (ROFs) and Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs)
Individuals going home from vacation will be considered essential travelers and will be allowed to cross borders as long as they show proof of their address.
2. Prevailing capacities in public utility vehicles will remain the same. The public is encouraged to bike or walk.
3. Commuters should follow the following rules when riding public transport:
- Wear face mask and face shield
- Avoid talking on the phone
- No eating inside the vehicle
- Observe physical distancing
- Disinfect regularly
4. Unless the trip is essential, the following are advised to stay home:
- Those below 18 and those above 65 years old
- Those with immunodeficiencies, comorbidities, or other health risks
- Pregnant women
5. Domestic flights will be limited to essential travel for APORs. Leisure travel in and out of the GCQ bubble is prohibited from March 22 to April 4.
