President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday extended COVID-19 quarantine classifications for another month, until Dec. 31, meaning existing restrictions are in place throughout the Christmas month.
Metro Manila, Batangas, Iloilo City, Tacloban City, Lanao del Sur, Iligan City and Davao City will remain under GCQ, the second lowest in a four-step classification system while most of the country will be under MGCQ, one notch lower.
Quarantines have been in place in mid-March and last Friday, the private sector placed an advance order for 2.6 million doses of Astra Zeneca's COVID-19 vaccine. The government plans to start its immunization program as early as the second half of 2021.
