Former defense secretary Gilbert Teodoro said he was willing to run as vice president to Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio in 2022 should she decide to seek the presidency.

Duterte-Carpio "will make a very good president of this country," owing to her ability to unite people, her managerial skills, and her familiarity with national issues, said Teodoro, who paid a courtesy visit to the mayor last week.

"She will be a good president if she decides to run. And to show that, I'm willing to back her up, I'll gladly be her vice president if she should so decide," he said in an ANC interview.

Teodoro did not categorically state if Duterte-Carpio invited her to be her vice president if she decides to run for president.

"The more important part is to show how sincere I am in thinking that she would be a good leader. I think she would be a good candidate, and I'm willing to support her, to be her vice president if she so chooses," he said.
