At 75, Gina Pareño Comes Out as LGBTQ+ Member: 'Oo, Bakit? May Problema?'

The veteran actress opens up about her late partner.

Veteran actress Gina Pareño has come out as a member of the LGBTQ+ community, saying in a vlog interview that it was nothing to be ashamed of as someone who loves with all honesty. 

Recalling the life she had with the late "Dra. Bong", a former actress known back then as Nenita Vidal, the 75-year-old said she was willing to give up her material possessions in exchange for bringing her former partner back to life.

Pareño said she was deeply indebted to her partner, whose urn she would carry with her to work to keep close, revealing how Vidal helped her through her struggle with drug addiction and had left her with her house upon her passing.

“Kaya mo bang aminin na miyembro ka ng LGTBQ?” entertainment columnist and talent Ogie Diaz asked.

Oo, bakit? May problema?," Pareño said quickly. 

"At saka nagmamahal naman ako ng tapat," she added.

The actress also opened up in the interview how badly she misses acting, revealing how opportunities have been scarce due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Gustung-gusto ko pa hong umarte. Sana makasama ko kayong muli. Sana mabigyan ako ng role.. Nakakalungkot parang wala nang nagmamahal sa akin. Hindi ako nakakaarte, e," she added.
