Gyms with Gov't COVID Safety Seal Can Reopen at Limited Capacity

Indoor contact sports are allowed again.

Gyms and fitness studios in the Greater Manila Area can reopen again as long as they obtain the government's COVID-19 safety seal, Malacañang said Friday days before new community quarantine protocols take effect.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said gyms and other indoor non-contact sports venues such as skating rinks can reopen at 30% venue capacity in Metro Manila, Bulacan, Laguna, Cavite, and Rizal.

Initially, only outdoor sports are allowed during the GCQ "with heightened restrictions" in the so-called NCR Plus Bubble.

Also allowed to open are historical sites and museums at 20% venue capacity as long as they observe health and safety protocols, and obtain the approval of the local government unit where these sites are situated.

Guided tours remain prohibited, Roque said.
