"Hamilton" Film to Be Streamed, Not Shown in Theaters

The Walt Disney Company has  announced  it will release the live capture of Lin-Manual Miranda’s "Hamilton"  on Disney TV Plus starting  July 3. 2020. 

It had been slated to be shown in movie theaters later next year,  in October, 2021.

The musical won 11 Tony Awards in 2016. It also won  the Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

Deadline.com revealed Disney paid $75 million  for worldwide rights, beating other suitors and paying what may be the largest sum ever for a finished film.

MIranda also made the announcement on his Facebook account.
