Electricity disconnection services will resume in Metro Manila, Meralco said Wednesday, noting that areas under granular lockdown will still be exempted.

Disconnection notices for unpaid overdue bills will be delivered by next week. Metro Manila is under the new COVID-19 Alert Level 4 with granular lockdowns until the end of the month.

"The disconnection notices give customers enough time to settle their bills or to reach out for assistance," Meralco said in a statement.

Disconnection however in areas that will be placed under granular lockdowns will remain suspended as well as in the provinces of Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, and Lucena City in Quezon which are under MECQ until Sept. 30.

“We encourage customers with billing concerns to reach out, so we can assist them and even come up with payment terms if needed. We will continue be very considerate of the challenges our customers are facing amid these difficult times,” Meralco chief commercial officer Ferdinand Geluz said.
