As Christmas nears and 12.12 orders arrive, online shoppers were reminded on Wednesday to dispose the packaging of parcels and shipments properly as the personal information printed on them could fall into the wrong hands and be used for malicious purposes.

The National Privacy Commission said shipping labels should be shredded before being thrown away. If shredding is not an option, recepients may shade the details such as name, address, and contact number with a black marker.
