(SPOT.ph) The ongoing pandemic fast-tracked consumers' shift to anything digital-from getting your groceries delivered to paying bills online. beep, a reloadable smart card that has been round since 2015, is one of the products that allowed commuters to go cashless when hopping on one of the Metro's elevated railways, riding a bus, or even buying siomai. Seven years later, the smart card service now allows the use of beep card minus the physical card.
Part of its expanded use of QR technology, commuters can now use their GCash app to generate a single-use QR ticket. This can be presented in lieu of a physical beep card when riding a bus operated by BGC Bus, TAS Trans, Precious Grace Transport Services, and San Agustin Transport. These cover several areas in the cities of Taguig, Makati, and Las Piñas, as well as the provinces of Cavite, Laguna, and Bulacan.
