Imelda Marcos Billboard on EDSA Draws Protest From 'Kingmaker' Director

The director of "The Kingmaker", a documentary about the Marcos family, on Saturday protested the use of a promotional image from the film on a giant billboard to greet the clan's matriarch on her 93rd birthday.

Laureen Greenfield retweeted The Philippine Star's photos of the billboard on EDSA-Mandaluyong that greeted former first lady Imelda Marcos a "Happy 93th birth day". Greenfield said this amounted to copyright infringement.

The topic "93th" was trending on Twitter Saturday night as users of the platform shares photos of the billboard, operated by DOOH.ph.

Greenfield tagged DOOH in her posts and got no response from the company as of early Saturday evening.

The former first lady celebrated her 93rd birthday two days after son, Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr., was sowrn in as the Philippines' 17th president.

Film director Darryl Yap, who is directing a feature film on the Marcos family's last days in Malacanang before they were driven into exile in 1986, said the billboard was the handiwork of the clans' critics, who want to make their supporters look dumb.
