Former defense secretary Gilbert "Gibo" Teodoro was headed to Davao City on Thursday, according to an ally who called him "my vice president" on a trip to meet his running mate.

Ex-congressman Rolando Andaya Jr. did not name Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, who is leading in the surveys. However, the comments section was filled with talk of a Sara-Gibo ticket in 2022.

Teodoro and Andaya are former colleagues in the Arroyo cabinet where the latter was budget secretary.

Will there be a Duterte-Teodoro tandem in 2022? Reportr reached out to Teodoro for confirmation, but has yet to receive a response.

In 2016, Teodoro declined President Rodrigo Duterte's offer to renew his post as defense secretary. Back then, the elder Duterte said Teodoro appeared to be having a hard time giving him a "direct answer", so he deferred his offer and gave it to now-DND chief Delfin Lorenzana.

In February, the 2010 presidential elections fourth placer's verified Facebook page posted a photo with "2022" on it twice, eliciting questions in the comments section about his political plans.
