The iPhone 12 series is half-past its one-year life cycle (at least based on Apple's marketing plan) and the leaks have begun on what the iPhone 13 would look like. YouTube creator and tech reviewer Lewis Hilsenteger or Unbox Therapy shared what he claimed was a mock-up of the handset.
Hilsenteger shared the shell device, sent over from China where iPhones are made, to his 17.9 million subscribers and easily got one million views within hours of upload. A hands-on with a mock-up this early is rare and Unbox Therapy is a credible tech reviewer, among the first to vlog about gadgets.
What did Unbox Therapy discover? The purported iPhone 13 Pro Max has substantially bigger cameras, the biggest he's seen on a smartphone. It also has a smaller notch. If accurate, it would be the first time since 2017's iPhone X that the notch is reduced in size.

Why do these changes to the iPhone matter? Android handsets, Samsung in particular with the Galaxy S21 Ultra, are closing the gap in terms of camera hardware and AI smarts. Don't discount Huawei if you're into its ecosystem. The photography-centered P50 series, rumored to launch with its own Harmony OS, is coming soon.
What about the smaller notch? It has been spoiling the full screen experience for nearly four years. Competitors are also working on a front-facing camera that is hidden under the screen. It is rumored to be coming on the Galaxy Fold 3 in August.
A word of caution, this purported iPhone 13 Pro Max is a leak, and while it is the "best look" so far at what's the come, it's unofficial and subject to change.
"It's kinda cool to be handling this right now, so far ahead of the actual launch event," he said. "Look at that beast."
