Manila Mayor Isko Moreno said the distribution of cash aid would push through on Wednesday, after President Rodrigo Duterte threatened to strip a "disorganized" city of the authority to hand out ayuda.
Moreno said late Tuesday that the ayuda, P1,000 per individual or maximum a P4,000 per household, would proceed in sync with other cities in Metro Manila.
"Good news, bukas po kasama ng 16 pa nating kasamahan na mga siyudad sa Metro Manila, bukas po ide-deploy ng Manila social welfare ang ayuda," he said.
He did not mention how much the Manila government received for cash aid distribution. In an earlier report, Moreno said the city would be given around P1.488 billion, about P34 million less than what the city received for ayuda distribution in April 2021.
"Kung anuman ang kakulangan, gagawan natin ng paraan pero ang importante, maibigay natin agad ang ayuda sa taumbayan."
Moreno thanked Duterte and the national government for the aid.
During Duterte's late-night address Monday, he said there was one city in Metro Manila which wouldn't have power to distribute aid, claiming that its mayor has "a disorganized mind."
He said he would instead task the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) or Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to distribute the ayuda instead.
