A Filipino lawyer who was gunned down in the U.S. while on vacation could have been mistaken by his assailant for someone else, the head of the Philippine mission in New York said Tuesday.
The shooting of John Albert Laylo "could be a case of mistaken identity," said Consul General Elmer Cato, citing police sources.
Laylo, 35, was attacked while on an Uber car in Philadelphia. His mother suffered injuries from glass shards. The two were on their way to the airport to catch a flight to Chicago.
The lawyer died on Sunday, a day after the attack, while on life support, Cato said.
