For Bea Alonzo what makes her long-running love team with John Lloyd Cruz magical is because they can't explain it. Close to two decades of working together and despite no real-life romance, fans eagerly await their reunion movie this year.

Alonzo and Cruz were first paired in the early 2000s teleserye "Kay Tagal Kang Hinintay," and were last seen together in the movie "A Second Chance" from 2015. They will reunite onscreen after controversial breakups.

"Hindi ko rin alam, baka yung ang magic na sinasabi nila," Alonzo told Summit Sandwich Sessions when asked about the staying power of John Lloyd-Bea.

"Kami ni John Lloyd, we have so much history. We worked with each other for 19 years. We're friends. Lahat na lang yata ng klaseng relasyon naranasan namin except mag-jowa at magasawa," she said.

Alonzo said everytime she works with Cruz, she discovers something new.

"He has a very complex personality. Madami talagang layers to him. That's what I like about him," she said.

"He really keeps me on my toes everytime nagtatrabaho kami because he's such a brilliant actor kinakabahan na ako... It's such a good thing, gusto ko pag kinakabahan ako," she said.

Why did they not make it as a real life couple?

"'Di ko din alam. Feeling ko, malaking bagay timing, laging hindi nagtatama. Everytime single kaming dalawa, pareho kaming baliw feeling ko timing, baka hindi lang nakasulat," she said.
