ABS-CBN star news anchor Noli de Castro is running for senator, seeking a political comeback 11 years after he stepped down as Gloria Arroyo's vice president, Aksyon Demokratiko said on Thursday.
The TV Patrol anchor, also known as Kabayan, took his oath under Isko Moreno's Aksyon Demokratiko party, party chairman Ernest Ramel told reportr. He will join civic leader Samira Gutoc and fellow radio broadcaster Carl Balita under Moreno's senatorial slate.

"Ako po'y makikipagsapalaran sa bagong uri ng panunungkulan pero tuloy-tuloy ang ating public service. Medyo itong pagkakataon na ito ay mas magiging malawak na po ang isasagawa nating public service kung susuwertehin sa tulong po ninyo," he said as he said goodbye to TeleRadyo on Thursday, where he hosted two morning shows.
De Castro topped the 2001 senatorial race but served only three years of his first six-year term after he was elected vice president in 2004.
