Former Vice President Leni Robredo on Friday launched what she hopes to be the largest volunteer network in Philippine history to continue the fight against poverty even after her term.

Robredo, introduced as "Attorney Leni" during the launch, said she was excited to kick launch Angat Buhay, the flagship  program of her vice presidency that she's spinning off as an NGO. Some one million Facebook users liked Robredo's change of profile and banner photos to reflect her new role.

"We are so looking forward to the next few days. Ito po ang pinaka-challenge sa atin ngayon... how do we encourage the groups to be involved in programs that will really benefit the community?"

"Nasa sa atin pong lahat para sabihin na hindi tayo failure nung eleksyon, naging matagumpay tayo kasi because of the campaign, we were able to start the spirit of volunteerism all over the country."

Angat Buhay, registered under its corporate name Angat Pinas Inc., will focus on four  advocacies: health, education, disaster relief and rehabilitation, and community engagement, she said.

Robredo launched the NGO at the former campaign volunteer headquarters in Quezon City featuring artworks and memorabilia gifted to her during the campaign, some of which will be used to raise funds for Angat Buhay.

The festival will run for three days, extended from two days as earlier planned after sign ups exceeded 200,000, said Robredo. Apologizing to those who can't attend the event, Robredo invited them to the opening of the pink museum, Museo ng Pag-asa, which will be housed at the first floor of the Angat Buhay office in Metro Manila. She did not mention where in Metro Manila it will be based.

"Once it opens, within July, we will make the announcements and everyone will be invited doon," she said.

Those who plan to extend financial support can soon download the Angat Buhay mobile app where the NGO will share updates and provide ways on how to send their donations. There will be three options for donations: patron-based for regular contributions; project-specific; and donations for the disaster preparedness fund.

Robredo asked supporters to wait for further announcements regarding the NGO and told those with inquiries to send them an email at [email protected]

"Tandaan lang po natin lahat na ginagawa natin at gagawin pa, nag-uugat lagi sa pag-asa. Pag-asa ang nasa likod ng lahat ng pagsisikap at pagtataya noong nakaraang kampanya. Pag-asa na kung magmahal tayo, kung itodo natin ang pagmamahal na ito, may maaabot tayong pagbabago," she said.
