Local government units should provide personnel to help in the Department of Social Welfare and Development's distribution of cash aid to students, Interior Sec. Benhur Abalos said Monday after huge crowds flocked to sites of the initial dole out.

The DSWD on Saturday started the distribution of cash aid to students from indigent families with throngs of applicants flocking to the agency's Quezon City central office as well as its field offices in provinces.

“We call on our LGUs to respond proactively to the appeal of DSWD Secretary Tulfo.
