The mayor of Libungan town, Cotabato province, who was tagged in the government's so-called "narco list" died Monday after he was shot at a construction site, authorities said.
It was the second assassination attempt on Mayor Christopher Cuan in as many years. He escaped unharmed from a shooting near his office in January 2019.

Television footage showed Cuan's parked vehicle at the scene of the crime, its doors left open. Also killed in the shooting was his driver, Navarro Ihao, according to a report on GMA News.
Cuan was in the area to inspect a cockpit arena that was under construction. The identities of the suspects was not immediately known.
