When protest banners are meme-worthy, Gen Z is front and center, as in Myanmar where a military coup sparked weekend rallies that are the largest in over a decade.

Placards read "I don't want a dictatorship. I just want a boyfriend.", "Ah shit, here we go again" and "You fucked up with the wrong generation."

Some flashed the three-finger salute from the film "Hunger Games," the same gesture used by anti-monarchy protesters in Thailand last year.

Estimates put the number of protesters in Myanmar's largest city, Yangon, at 100,000 as large demonstrations in other cities are also reported, "condemning the coup that brought Myanmar's 10-year experiment with democracy to a crashing halt", AFP reported.
