Drenched in rain and with their face shields and face masks on, devotees of Manila's Black Nazarene help a procession on Monday around Quiapo church in a display of fervent Catholicism during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The cortege trailed a police mobile and the devotees, dressed in maroon and gold, appeared to be too close to each other.

The church has insisted on holding sacraments in the flesh such as confessions and weddings while some services such as masses are held via live stream to follow physical distancing protocols.
