LOOK: Construction on the LRT-1 Cavite Extension Is Halfway Done

It's expected to cut travel time between Manila and Cavite.

Construction on the LRT-1 Extension project in Cavite is halfway done, the Department of Transportation said Friday.

The 11.7-kilometer extension will run from Baclaran to Niog in Bacoor, Cavite. Once complete, it is expected to shorten travel time between Manila and Cavite to 25 minutes from 1 hour and 10 minutes.

Its overall progress rate is at 50.54% as of Nov. 30, with partial operations targetted by the fourth quarter of 2021. It is projected to ferry 300,000 to 500,000 passengers daily.
