The LRT-2 will temporarily shorten operating hours starting Saturday to prevent further spread of COVID-19 to employees and passengers, managament said Wednesday.

The train line will operate from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. starting this weekend until April 30. Regular operations will resume on May 1, Light Rail Transit Authority Administrator Reynaldo Berroya said.

In a mass testing for rail workers last April 7 to 8, a total of 1,906 out of 1,944 LRT-2 employees were tested and 273 were for the virus.

Currently, only 56% are functional among ticket management and sales collection personnel, about 73% among train drivers, and 68% among station personnel. The rest are under quarantine due to COVID-19 infection or exposure.
