Commuters taking the LRT-2 can avail of free random antigen testing , management said, as the country faces a COVID surge driven by the hyper-contagious Omicron variant.
Random antigen testing will be available at the following stations Mondays to Fridays:
- Antipolo (7 a.m. to 11 a.m.)
- Cubao (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.)
- Recto (3 p.m. to 7 p.m.)
Testing teams will consist of four members: a nurse to administer the test, an encoder to document the passenger's information, personnel to label the collected specimen, and a safety officer to control the possible influx of commuters who agree to be tested.
According to the Light Rail Transit Authority, six out of 34 passengers tested positive on Wednesday.
Commuters are still required to wear face masks at all times, observe social distancing aboard the train and on platforms, and disinfect frequently. A 'no vaccination, no entry' order from Transport Sec. Arthur Tugade is also in place under Alert Level 3.
The MRT is also offering free random antigen testing for passengers on select dates.
