Student drivers permits that expired during the Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine will still be valid until transport regulators resume office operations, the Land Transportation Office said Monday.
Those living in Enhanced Community Quarantine or ECQ areas whose students permits expired are covered by this extension as well. The ECQ and MECQ are the two highest classifications in the country's four-step quarantine system.
Metro Manila, Laguna, Cavite, Rizal, and Bulacan shifted back to MECQ for 15 days until Aug. 18 to buy the country’s health system time to catch up with rising infections. Under MECQ, everyone is required to stay at home and business operations are temporarily suspended.
The Inter-Agency Task Force is yet to decide on a possible MECQ extension or shift back to General Community Quarantine, but officials have said that the economy could no longer sustain a prolonged lockdown.
