Mark Your Calendars: May 25 Was Declared a Regular Holiday for Eid’l Fitr

The Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) has declared that Monday, May 25, will be a regular holiday.

President Rodrigo Duterte signed Proclamation No. 944, marking the observance of Eid'l Fitr (the Feast of Ramadan).

The report notes: 

  • Republic Act No. 9177 declared Eid'l Fitr (Feast of Ramadan) a regular holiday throughout the country
  • Eid'l Fitr is celebrated by the Muslim world for three (3) days after the end of the month of fasting
  • The entire Filipino nation should have the full opportunity to join their Muslim brothers and sisters in peace and harmony in the observance and celebration of Eid'l Fitr, subject to existing community quarantine and social distancing measures

Due to RA 9177 (established in November of 2002), the Philippines celebrates the Muslim holiday nationwide. However, the date is not fixed since the Muslim calendar is based on the different phases of the moon.
