Water distributor Maynilad extended its payment deadline to Sept. 30 as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to take a financial toll on customers, its spokesperson said on Thursday. This is to help them gradually settle bills accumulated during the quarantine.

“Nagkaroon po tayo ng payment extension at ito ay umabot na po hanggang Sept. 30 (We had a payment extension and this will be until Sept. 30),” Maynilad spokesperson Zmel Grabillo said in an Unang Hirit interview.

Maynilad’s system can keep track of staggered payments, allowing customers to pay on an installment basis, Grabillo said. Customers can pay in any amount they can.

“Pwede pong utay-utay. Ang totoo, kung magkano lang ‘yung kakayanan ng ating kababayan habang bumabawi po sila sa kasulukuyan nating sitwasyon (You can pay little by litte. In truth, any amount our citizens can pay while they recover from their current situation),” Grabillo said.

Grabillo said customers could pay online or via payment centers. All transactions recorded will be subtracted from their total bill.
