Mayor Joy Belmonte Fined P500 in QC for Biking Without Helmet

Don't forget your protective gear when biking.

Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte said Thursday she was fined P500 for not wearing a helmet while riding a bike during an event inher own constituency.

Belmonte said she gave her safety gear to a fellow biker, who wasn't wearing one, during the Cycle to End Violence Against Women event.

“I commend our DPOS for strictly implementing our ordinance kasi wala silang sini-sino kapag nagpapatupad ng batas,” she said.

Another participant, Cherie Atilano of UN Food System Champions, also received a violation ticket and was also fined P500.

Under a city ordinance, bikers in Quezon City are required to wear helmets.
