Visit the cemeteries and memorial parks in advance if you want to pay your respects to your dearly departed loved ones before it's closed.
In a Philippine Star news alert on Twitter, Metro Manila Development Authority General Manager Jojo Garcia confirmed that Metro Manila mayors have agreed during a conversation in a chatroom that cemeteries in Metro Manila will be closed during Undas or All Saints Day and All Souls Day. The dates that the mayors have chosen to start the closure also include October 31, or Halloween Day.
This is allegedly in advance of a meeting later tonight to discuss the measures and guidelines to be implemented during the Catholic holiday.
Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko" Moreno Domagoso was the first to announce its cemeteries will be closed during the holy holiday last September 9. A tentative announcement the next day from Brig. Gen. Restituto Padilla, spokesperson of the National National Task Force on COVID-19, implied that it was likely that all cemeteries nationwide would be closed. This was followed by San Juan Mayor Francis Zamora declaring on September 10 that San Juan public and private memorial parks, cemeteries, and columbariums would be closed to the public starting October 30 to November 3.
