Here's How Mayor Vico is Responding to Stray Dogs, Cats

200 cats, dogs to get free spay, neuter, anti-rabies

Even with few people out due to the pandemic, managing stray animals is still necessary in the new normal. On Thursday, Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto led a free spay and neuter and anti-rabies vaccine program at the Rainforest Adventure Experience Park in Maybunga.

Around 200 cats and dogs benefitted from the project of the city government, through Pasig's newly organized City Veterinarian's Office, according to a post on the mayor's official Facebook page.

Sotto said the city government with the Philippine Veterinary Medical AssociationBureau of Animal Industry, and Vets Love Nature for the initiative, which had pre-registration in selected barangays.

"This is a matter of public health and safety. Expect more of this in the future," Sotto said.

Last month, the city put six dogs up for adoption from its retired K9 unit, in time for International Dog Day.
