(UPDATE) The Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine in Metro Manila, Cavite, Laguna, Rizal and Bulacan will again alter for at least 15 days the mall-going habits of at least 23 million people. Based on official advisories, leisure will take backseat to shopping for food and essentials.
Take note that for Robinsons Malls, gorceries open ahead of the main shopping mall to cater to more customers.
Before you head out with your face mask on, plan your trip to the mall accordingly. Getting there could he an issue too as the MECQ also suspended public transport until Aug. 18. Here's what we know so far:
You will need a quarantine pass.
Not just for going to the mall, but going out of the house in general. The quarantine pass designates just one person per household who can go out to buy food, medicine and run errands. The point of the MECQ is for people to stay at home, slow infections and buy time for authorities to rethink the country's pandemic strategy.
You can't go to the mall for date.
Gudelines for MECQ prohibits leisure shops. This means no salons and barbershops. Only supermarkets, hardware stores, groceries computer stores and food shops will be open on top of others that also pass off as "essential." There will be no dine-in and only takeout and deliveries are allowed.
You need to finish your errands early.
Malls have shortened their operating hours and some will close as early as 6 p.m. See official announcements from official advisories below. Remember to check with your local government too if there are additional restrictions.
