Meralco said Tuesday it would suspend disconnection activities in Metro Manila and Laguna province for the duration of the enhanced community quarantine, and modified enhanced community quarantine in these areas respectively.
Disconnection activities in Laguna are suspended until Aug. 15, the set end of the MECQ while disconnection activities in the capital region are suspended from Aug. 6 to 20, the scheduled end of the ECQ, the power distributor said.
"We will again suspend all disconnection activities in NCR and Laguna to help ease the burden of our customers with the needed relief and additional time to settle their bills,” Meralco FVP and chief commercial officer Ferdinando Geluz said.
Meralco also assured its customers of continued operations even during ECQ. Customers who can pay their bills on time are encouraged to do so, it added.
"Our continued operations will ensure that actual consumption for the month will be billed accordingly," Geluz said.
The stricter COVID-19 protocols for August were implemented in a bid to control the spread of the highly contagious Delta variant of coronavirus, which is sweeping Southeast Asia.
