Messenger Down: Facebook Users Report Global Outage

Facebook Messenger, used by 1.3 billion people worldwide, appeared to be down on Thursday with users reporting that they can't send and receive texts.

Internet tracker Downdetector monitored the outage at around 7 p.m. Manila time and complaints have piled up since then. On Twitter, "Messenger Down" is a trending topic.

"We're working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible," a Facebook spokesperson was quoted by Reuters new agency.
