These Metro Manila Cities Have Local Lockdowns, Curfews

The capital region is moving to cap rising infections.

(UPDATE: Starting March 15, Metro Manila will adopt a single curfew, 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. to avoid confusion, according to the MMDA)

Several cities in Metro Manila have reimposed localized lockdowns and curfews to curb the spread of COVID-19 as the region records more than 2,000 new daily cases, indicating a fresh surge.

For four straight days in March, the daily number of cases reached 3,000, numbers not seen since October 2020. Officials reminded the public to strictly follow minimum public health standards, and advised double-masking especially given the threat of new COVID-19 variants.

Here are the Metro Manila cities with localized lockdowns and curfews:

Caloocan

Mayor Oscar Malapitan said curfew hours from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. would be implemented this week.

Color-coded quarantine passes for markets were reimposed to limit the number of individuals going out of their homes.

Manila

Mayor Isko Moreno on Tuesday ordered a four-day localized lockdown in two barangays and hotels due to a surge in cases.

Barangays 351 and 725 were placed under lockdown starting Mar. 11 at 12:01 a.m. until Mar. 14 at 11:59 p.m.

Malate Bayview Mansion and Hop Inn Hotel in Barangay 699 were also placed under lockdown until Sunday.

Muntinlupa

A curfew from 12 a.m. to 3 a.m. was implemented in Muntinlupa.

Medical frontliners and workers, along with authorized persons outside of residence are expempted, but must present valid IDs.

Parañaque

Parañaque City will also have curfew hours from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m.

Public markets and sari-sari stores can only operate from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Those aged 15 below and over 65 years old are barred from leaving their homes. Curfew and quarantine violators will be apprehended.

Pasay

Some 60 barangays in Pasay City are still under localized lockdowns. A total of 53 houses are also on lockdown due to cases of COVID-19 in the household.

Quezon City

Certain areas in some Quezon City barangays were placed under special lockdown due to a spike in COVID-19 cases. The partial lockdown affected 472 families.

Food packs and other essentials were provided to residents while under lockdown.

San Juan

The city of San Juan imposed a curfew from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. starting Mar. 9.

Exempted from the curfew are health workers, frontline personnel, law enforcement authorities, city government workers, private workers, and drivers, to name a few.
