Metro Manila mayors have agreed to open up COVID-19 vaccination slots in their respective localities to non-residents once they finish inoculating their constituents, MMDA chairman Benhur Abalos said Monday.

So far, Abalos said three local government units in the capital region have opened up COVID-19 vaccination slots to non-residents: Mandaluyong, Pateros, and San Juan.

"Now we are going to vaccinate as one. Napagkasunduan namin na yung mga nakatapos na, magkaroon ng QR Code na yung mga labas namin na hindi na residente ng LGU pwede mabakunahan," he said in a Palace press briefing.

Non-residents who wish to get their COVID-19 vaccine in Metro Manila should register first with the LGU of choice.

Metro Manila has fully vaccinated some 4.2 million people which accounts for 43.5% of the region's 14-million strong population. Abalos said the capital region expects to inoculate half of its population by the end of August as the highly contagious coronavirus Delta variant continues to spread.
