Metro Manila Curfew Shortened During MECQ

Metro Manila's mayors agreed to shorten the curfew to nine hours during the MECQ period, wherein more businesses are also allowed to operate, the MMDA said.

Millions are prohibited from leaving the house from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. During the ECQ, the curfew started earlier by two hours, at 6 p.m. The MECQ in Metro Manila Laguna, Cavite, Rizal, and Bulacan will last until April 30.

MMDA Chairman Benjamin Abalos Jr. said the capital region's mayors agreed the new curfew hours.

Apart from curfew hours, Abalos said he spoke with health secretary Francisco Duque III and treatment czar Bong Vega to coordinate with local governments to allocate more beds and intensive care in private and public hospitals in their respective areas as more cases choke the healthcare system.
