Minors and senior citizens in Metro Manila are allowed to take public utility vehicles as the government lifted travel restrictions in the capital region, authorities said Sunday.
The Inter-Agency Task Force on COVID-19 has allowed intrazonal (within Metro Manila) and interzonal (in and out of Metro Manila) for all ages as the capital region eased to Alert Level 2, MMDA chair Benhur Abalos told TeleRadyo.
"Klaro ito. Public transport, pwede ang matanda, pwede ang bata," Abalos said, as he clarified an earlier statement of a transportation official.
Transport Asec. Manuel Gonzales, who chairs the Inter-Agency Council for Traffic or I-ACT, said on Saturday that minors were still not allowed to take public transportation even with an accompanying adult.
Abalos said he called Transport Asec. Steve Pastor on Sunday morning to clarify the matter.
"Ang sabi sa akin ni ASec. Steve Pastor, nagkaroon lang ng miscommunication sa I-ACT, pero pwede raw ang matatanda at bata sa public transportation, just to clarify it," he said.
As Metro Manila shifted to Alert Level 2, the government also allowed buses, trains, jeeps to ferry up to 70% capacity from the current 50% starting Nov. 4. Curfew hours in Metro Manila were also recently lifted.
Under Alert Level 2, those under 18 years old are allowed in establishments that can operate at a maximum 50% capacity indoors and 70% capacity outdoors.
