The MMDA said Tuesday it would hire 300 contact tracers as the capital region sees an increase in COVID-19 infections.
Aside from intensified contact-tracing, Metro Manila mayors also agreed strengthen coordination in bringing people to quarantine facilities, said MMDA Chairman Benhur Abalos.
"Our agency, the MMDA, will hire 300 more contact tracers which we will require for them to be placed in each LGU in Metro Manila," Abalos said in an interview with ANC, adding that he has asked the Department of the Interior and Local Government to augment the region's allocation of contact tracers.

Contact tracers need to have a college degree and will undergo training for the job, he said.
The Philippines has been reporting over 3,000 new COVID-19 cases daily for the past four days, prompting the Department of Health to remind the public to keep their guards up and consider wearing a double mask.
Aside from Metro Manila, spikes in COVID-19 infections were reported in the Southern Tagalog Region, Central Luzon, Central Visayas, Health Sec. Francisco Duque III said Monday.
Duque said "critical areas" in terms of healthcare utilization in Metro Manila are Pasay City, and Malabon City. The cities of Navotas, Makati, and San Juan are meanwhile classified under "high-risk" areas.
Metro Manila mayors have been reminded by the health department to strictly implement COVID-19 protocols in their localities to control the spread of the virus.
