Presidential candidate Isko Moreno and Mocha Uson briefly danced the TikTok trend "Paru-Paro G" on the campaign stage in Cavite province late Friday, where President Rodrigo Duterte's most vocal supporter on social media endorsed the Manila mayor as the country's next leader.
Uson, who is running for party-list congressman under her eponymous Mothers for Change, said she saw in Moreno a young Duterte. A resident of Manila, Uson said she voted for Moreno as mayor in 2019.
"Ako po ay naririto, pang ipakita ang aking suporta sa ating susunod na pangulo, dahil nakita ko po kay Mayor Isko ang batang Pangulong Duterte," Uson was quoted in the rally by Inquirer.net and Politko.ph.
"Nag-switch to Isko na rin po ako. Alam nyo ba mayor, taga-Maynila ako, binoto kita. Nakita ko po yiung bilis-kilos, yung iba po, pinapangako pa lang po nila, nagawa na ni Mayor Isko yan sa Maynila," Uson in a video of the campaign rally posted on Moreno's official Facebook page.
Uson invited two mothers from the crowd to dance on stage with her and Moreno. Mothers for Change, according to Uson, advocates for mothers. Her co-nominee is Binibining Pilipinas-Globe 2018 Michele Gumabao. It's at around 18:52-mark in the video.
A singer-dancer on TV before she became the voice of die-hard Duterte supporters on Facebook, Uson forayed into government service as board member of the MTRCB censors board, assistant secretary of the Presidential Communications Office and deputy administrator of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administrator.
Duterte has yet to endorse a successor with less than two months of campaigning left before the May 9 elections.
