If You Live in Laguna, You Can Head to Work in Makati

Just present an I.D. that shows where you live and another that shows where you work.

So you live in Cavite and work in Makati. No worries.

Employees will be allowed to travel for work-related reasons to and from modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) and general community quarantine (GCQ) areas, the Palace said on May 14. 

This comes after Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque announced that most areas in the country are set to shift to GCQ starting May 16 until May 31. 

Some residents from GCQ areas work in modified ECQ areas, and vice versa. Roque said workers who need to travel to a different community quarantine area could pass through checkpoints after presenting an employee ID and another ID that specifies their place of residence.

Roque stressed these employees must work in industries that are allowed to operate under modified ECQ and GCQ.

"Yung mga allowed po mag trabaho sa iba't-ibang quarantine areas, they will be allowed provided that they are working in an industry that is allowed to operate," Roque said in a press briefing.

Non-essential travel is still prohibited. Those who need to travel for reasons not related to work must secure a clearance from the local government unit.

"Hindi pa po natin pinapayagan yang non-essential travels," Roque said. 

Only Metro Manila, Laguna, and Cebu City will shift to a modified ECQ starting May 16 until May 31. These are categorized as high-risk areas where a COVID-19 outbreak is likely.

The rest of the country will shift to GCQ on May 16.
