Metro Manila, Laguna, and Cebu City will be under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) until May 31, the Palace said on May 12.
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque announced that Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) Resolution No 35. was signed on May 11, stating that the three high-risk areas cannot shift to general community quarantine (GCQ). Areas with moderate risk of a COVID-19 outbreak will be placed under GCQ until May 31. Areas with low risk of spreading infections will not be placed under GCQ or ECQ, but must follow minimum health standards and protocols.
MECQ allows limited movement within the zone for obtaining essential goods and services, with manufacturing and processing plants allowed up to a maximum of 50% workforce.
Transportation is limited to essential goods and services. Physical classes are also suspended.
The following moderate-risk areas will be under GCQ from May 16 to 31:
- Region II
- Region III
- Region IV-A (except entire Laguna)
- Region VII (except entire Cebu)
- Region IX
- Region XI
- Region XIII
These low-risk areas will not be under quarantine, but must follow health standards:
- Region I
- Region IV-B
- Region V
- Region VI
- Region VIII
- Region X
- Region XII
As of May 11, 4 p.m., the Philippines has a total of 11,086 cases, with 726 deaths and 1,999 recoveries.
