(UPDATE) At least three people were killed while five others were injured following days of monsoon rains that will likely continue through Sunday, authorities said.

One of the casualties was due to an accident along Kennon Road in Baguio City after a tree fell over a vehicle. Two others inside the vehicle were injured, said Ricardo Jalad, who heads the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.

Two other individuals died in the Ilocos Region after being struck by lightning, he added.

A total of 10,160 families have been evacuated as of Saturday due to the continuous monsoon rains, most of them were from Mimaropa, Jalad said.

Monsoon rains will continue to drench most parts of the country on Sunday as Typhoon Fabian (In-Fa), keeps enhancing the southwest monsoon or habagat, PAGASA said.

Fabian was spotted 895 kilometers north of extreme Northern Luzon before dawn Sunday, outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility, PAGASA said.

"Itong si Typhoon In-Fa ay patuloy na hinihila ang habagat, isa sa mga dahilan kaya ang habagat ay patuloy na nakakaapekto sa buong bansa," said PAGASA weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio.

Scattered to widespread moderate to at times heavy rains caused by the southwest monsoon will be experienced in Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Abra, Benguet, Zambales, Bataan, Pampanga, Bulacan, Cavite, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, and Calamian Islands.

Cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms are expected over Cagayan Valley, Antique, and the rest of Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, and Mimaropa.

The rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

Apart from Typhoon Fabian, another weather disturbance, Tropical Storm Nepartak was spotted 2,960 kilometers east northeast of extreme Northern Luzon. It is not expected to enter PAR, PAGASA said.
