Commuters can ride the MRT-3 for free on Saturday in celebration of Independence Day, the Department of Transportation said on Thursday.

Passengers commuting from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on June 12 can skip paying fares, the DOTr said in a Facebook advisory.

The upcoming regular holiday will mark the Philippines' 123rd Independence Day.

All passengers and personnel are required to follow minimum health standards such as wearing of face masks and shields, frequent disinfection, and proper social distancing aboard trains and in stations to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
