Motorists passing the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) will have to pay a higher toll starting Wednesday, Nov. 25, when the new rates take effect, its operator said Monday.

The increase will take effect past midnight Wednesday and will amount to P4 in the open system and P0.06 per kilometer in the closed system, NLEX Corp said in stock exchange disclosure filed by its parent, Metro Pacific.

The open system, where a flat rate is charged per entry, includes Quezon City, Caloocan City, Valenzuela City, Malabon City, Navotas City, Meycauayan City and Marilao, Bulacan, it said.

For end-to-end travel, vehicles traveling from Metro Manila to Mabalacat City in Pampanga will be charged an additional toll of P9, P20, and P25 per class, the expressway operator said.

The toll adjustment was supposed to be implemented earlier this year but was deferred in light of economic woes brought by the COVID-19 pandemic, NLEX Corp said.
