Authorities on Thursday branded as "fake news" reports that unvaccinated individuals would be denied cash aid or ayuda, with Malacanang wondering why those behind the misinformation had not been sickened with COVID-19.
Large crowds gathered at vaccination centers on the eve of Friday's lockdown, with some citing reports that their lack of a vaccine would duisqualify them from receiving P1,000 for the 15-day ECQ.
“Do not believe in 'fake news.' Let us wait for your vaccination schedule. Local chief executives of Metro Manila are on top of the situation, ensuring that queues are orderly," MMDA Chairman Abalos said.
Reacting to the same misinformation, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said: "Tingin ko po may nagpapakalat talaga ng 'fake news', meron talagang walang ginagawang matino sa buhay nila. Ewan ko ba ho bakit hindi pa sila ma-COVID".
The Department of Health also dismissed "fake news" that unvaccinated employees won't be allowed to go to work during the two-week enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).
Authorities reminded the public that COVID-19 vaccination will push through during the lockdown as supply of vaccines remains "secured," said Abalos.
