The Philippines on Tuesday logged 2,303 new COVID-19 cases, the lowest since January 2021, as authorities study the possible lifting of the face shield requirement.

The day's total brought the total active cases to 43,185. The Department of Health also reported 128 deaths and 4,677 recoveries.

Since the pandemic began in March 2020, the Philippines has a cumulative total of 2,792,656 cases, 43,404 deaths and 2,708,466 recoveries.

Vaccinations for minors has expanded in cities to cover kids without underlying conditions as Metro Manila remains under Alert Level 3 until Nov. 15. The Inter-Agency Task Force earlier said it was studying the possible removal of the face shield requirement as infections decline.
