The Philippines on Tuesday logged 4,496 new COVID-19 infections as select provinces joined Metro Manila under an alert level-based quarantine system that favors local over large-scale lockdowns.

The day's tally brought active cases to 63,637. A total of 9,069 new recoveries and 211 new deaths were also reported.

Cumulative cases since the pandemic began is now at 2,731,735. Total recoveries and deaths are now at 2,627,126 and 40,972 respectively.

Alert Level 3 in Metro Manila is expected to last until the end of October. Under this quarantine, more establishments can operate at 30% indoor venue capacity for fully vaccinated individuals and 50% outdoor venue capacity regardless of vaccination status.

Provinces under the alert level system are subject to the new protocols until the end of the month. Check our guides for what's allowed and what's prohibited under the different alert levels.
