A one-month-old infant boy in Mati City, Davao Oriental who died on Aug. 12 later tested positive for COVID-19, local authorities said on Wednesday.
The baby, who had difficulty breathing, expired at the hospital. His swab test result came out positive on Aug. 25, authorities said.
Earlier, a three-year-old, also in Mati City, died due to COVID-19, officials said Facebook.
The city recorded almost 300 COVID-19 infections among minors from January to August 2021, it said. In 2020, it recorded 27 cases, all of whom recovered.
The local government reminded the public to follow strict health protocols to avoid contracting more contagious coronavirus variants.
