President Rodrigo Duterte has approved imposing a "one seat apart" rule in public transport, as the economy gradually and carefully restarts from seven months and counting of virus quarantine, his spokesman said.
Previously, commuters are required to be spaced one meter apart in buses, trains and jeeps, the minimum distance according to research to effectively prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said the economic cluster in the Cabinet recommended "one seat apart" and it was approved during a meeting on Monday.

Current quarantine classifications are good until Oct. 31. Metro Manila, home to roughly a tenth of the country's 100 million people is under the second lowest, GCQ.
On Monday, the country reported 3,564 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total to 342,816. There are 43,332 active cases.
